Abstract

Drava Lowland is one of the greatest wet lowlands of Hungary, preserving much of the vegetation of former unbroken woodlands, moors, and marshes. This paper deals with surviving valuable fragments of natural vegetation, which have not received protection yet. The most important types of vegetation of this area are lowland oak-hornbeam forests, beech forests, oak-ash-elm gallery forests, alder and ash moors; wet meadows and pastures, and aquatic vegetation of the oxbow lakes. Typical protected plants of this vegetation fragments as it follows: Carex strigosa, Fritillaria meleagris, Listera ovata, Vitis
sylvestris, Thelypteris palustris, Hottonia palustris. Orchis laxiflora ssp. elegáns. Orchis morio, Leucojum aestivum, Nymphaea alba, Nymphoides peltata, Trapa natans, Salvinia natans.
